Seminole County ARES®/RACES, in cooperation with the Seminole County Department of Public Safety and Division of Emergency Management, provides Amateur Radio emergency communications, augmenting normal lines of communication during emergencies or pending disaster. We also provide volunteer communications services for Public Service events.
ARES
Amateur Radio Emergency Service®
The Amateur Radio Emergency Service® (ARES) consists of licensed amateurs who have voluntarily registered their qualifications and equipment, with their local ARES leadership, for communications duty in the public service when disaster strikes.
RACES
Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service
A protocol created by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC Part 97, Section 407). The volunteers serve their respective jurisdictions pursuant to guidelines and mandates established by local emergency management officials.
