What is a NET?

An amateur radio net, or simply ham net, is an “on-the-air” gathering of amateur radio operators. Most nets convene on a regular schedule and specific frequency, and are organized for a particular purpose, such as relaying messages, discussing a common topic of interest, in severe weather (for example, during a Skywarn activation), emergencies, or simply as a regular gathering of friends for conversation.

ares/races Training Net

Our net meets on the first Monday of each month on 146.460 MHz FM simplex, and on each following Monday of the month on 147.090 MHz, with a +600KHz offset and a tone of 103.5Hz, at 8 PM local time. The net can be linked to Echolink as needed.

During the net, please send messages to Bob K4GBE on Winlink. Bob will log our Winlink acivity and help you hone your Winlink skills. Each week he will reply to your WinLink message let you know which form format to include for the next week, as practice.

We hold a digital net weekly just after the FM analog net. The digital nets alternate weekly between D-Star and DMR to allow every one to utilize the technologies they own.

D-STAR capable amateurs are invited to participate. The net is held on D-STAR Reflector REF037C.

DMR capable amateurs are invited to participate. The net is held on DMR network Brandmeister on the Orlando/Hamcation TalkGroup 31129.

Listen/Participate on the weekly FM analog net to learn which digital modulation we are using that night.
